February Trip
Dates: 18-25 February 2010
Duration: 8 x days
Purpose: to visit our project in Senegal, assist with construction and decorating work, meet the school residents, assess future project work and enjoy all of this in blazing sun located next to the beach!

Provisional Itinerary
Thursday 18th February
08:00h check in for 10:00h from Gatwick to Banjul, The Gambia. Upon arrival we’ll be met by Floak staff and transferred via jeep to Senegal. The journey, including border crossing, takes approximately 90 minutes.
Our estimated time of arrival is 19:00h. Dinner will be served following set up of tents / unpacking followed by a trip to the Carnival that takes place between 12-20 February in Kafountine – our home for the next 7 days.
Friday 19th February
AM: Welcome meeting by FLOAK’s Senegalese staff and tour of facilities and school(s). Following this inspection we’ll discuss the Recycling Project in further detail and view current progress, including vision on building work completed in and around Kafountine. From here we’ll make a plan for the week and adjust schedule accordingly.
PM: FREE – beach time! Carnival at night.
Saturday 20th February
PM: beach and free time, followed by last night of Carnival.
AM: FREE
PM: Floak FC v Kafountine, followed by presentation of a new team strip from FLOAK to the local team. Note, all Floak staff are expected to play!
Monday 22nd February
MYSTERY ACTIVITY!
Wednesday 24th February
Optional day trip to Cap Skiring, located in the south of Senegal
Thursday 25th February
Transfer to airport via markets and lunch in The Gambia. Evening flight arrives 23:50h at Gatwick
Cost: £500 (tbc) plus approximately £100 spending money
Payment: £300 via bank transfer to Lloyds TSB 30-96-00 / 02514936 by 18th December 2009. Remainder due 01-2-10
Inclusions: return flights from Gatwick, transfers from The Gambia to Kafountine, FLOAK guide throughout, 7 x nights’ camping with breakfast and dinner daily.
Exclusions: insurance, medications, inoculations.
Visa: not required for UK citizens
